No Plexus, the Dutch/Australian composer-producer duo, thrives at the intersection of experimental electronic pop and contemporary classical music.
Their music - characterised by intricate sound design, emotive vocals and anthemic arrangements - is a fusion of electronic music styles such as electropop, art-pop and deconstructed club. Since releasing their debut album Rite of Passage (2023), the duo have been honing their live shows while touring globally. Their forthcoming untitled EP bridges the time and space between the ancient and the futuristic, all through a sincere lyrical lens. The ‘ancient’ is reflected in their music by the extensive use of orchestral instruments and traditional compositional techniques. It’s a familiar cinematic approach to emotional expansiveness which collides often dramatically with gnarling basses, hyper-real sound design and deconstructed beats, reflecting the duo’s interest in futurism. To mark the end of their multi-year residency at Rewire, as young artists in residence, No Plexus will premiere a brand new audiovisual performance at the festival, in collaboration with French visual artist and scenographer Amalia Jaulin.

In April 2025 at Rewire Festival (@rewirefestival), No Plexus will premiere a brand new AV show. In the lead-up of this show, multiple singles will be released online. In this new chapter, No Plexus redirects their artistic focus, aiming to explore the intersections of the following elements:
“We are fascinated by the use of classical composition techniques, such as layering vocal parts in canon, interlocking motives and detailed part writing for strings and brass.
Visually speaking, in a similar vain, we want to explore different handwork techniques - sewing, embroidery, tapestry making - and the materiality that comes with this.”
“This time around we want to dive inwards. It feels fitting right now to alternate between the use of natural phenomena as metaphors and deeply vulnerable language to express the most personal.”
“This is musically captured with virtual recreations of acoustic sounds using physical modelling and granular synthesis, intense full bodied bass patches and experimental and detailed drum sequencing. We dream of creating a sonic representation of brutalist futurist architecture, overgrown with hyperreal nature. Our AV shows are rooted in club aesthetics such as smoke machines and stroboscopes. We aim for a visceral experience of amplified electronic sound: feeling kicks and basses rumble in your chest; flickering sound design feeling uncannily three-dimensional.”
ART DIRECTION by AMALIA JAULIN _ Across the variety of creations in this new chapter, Amalia Jaulin (@amajln) will be contributing as art director. Amalia’s ability to work with physical materials such as melted plastic, glass, fabric and metal produces visceral and futuristic scenes. Her extremely detailed and material focused artistic research is a perfect match with No Plexus’ own explorations of tone, particularly regarding ‘the ancient’ and ‘the future’.
Starting in January 2025, No Plexus will start independently releasing singles regularly. Distribution will be handled by Modulor (FR). An EP releases is planned for May or June.
